As the primary educators of your children, you are aware that a good school library can open the minds of children to new worlds and can enable them to develop their potential as critical readers in this information age. Reading - the ability to read - is the single most important factor for success in school! Even success on the Internet presupposes the ability to read.
Because BOOKS are important in your child's development I invite you to consider a book as a Birthday gift for your child. Each book will indicate who the donor is and the gift will enhance our significant collection of quality material. Such a gift will play a special role in creating and nurturing skilled, empowered readers.

At Gate of Heaven School we have Faith in Every Student! Books can play a key role in the emotional, spiritual and moral lives of children - the right book can make a difference in a child's' life.

Mission Statement
The Gate of Heaven Library Media Center works to develop within all students the necessary skills and knowledge, rooted in faith, to become lifelong critical thinkers, productive users of information and ideas, and valued contributors to society.
Philosophy Statement
In addition to its instructional value, the library media center strives to foster a love of reading in all members of the school community. An extensive collection of quality literature featuring accomplished authors of the past and present is housed in the library. Students are exposed to a variety of writing styles that allows them to be immersed in a literature rich environment.
The library media center provides students and teachers with the technology necessary to navigate the Internet and utilize online services with the technological proficiency necessary for the 21st century. While technology enriches the learning process, the value of printed information is equally conveyed. The library media staff and faculty promote teaching methods that require a gathering of information from a variety of sources, both print and online.
The library media center is an integral component in the overall education students receive at Gate of Heaven School.
