Literacy Collaborative Grades K-2

Literacy Collaborative is a research-based program. Learning is a social and constructive process. All children can learn to read and write in an organized and print rich environment.

Powerful demonstrations are an important part of this learning process. Children learn best when they are responsible for their own learning. There are eight main components of the language and literacy framework for the literature and contents areas.

They are: Interactive Read Alouds, Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Independent Reading, Interactive Writing, Shared Writing, Writers Workshop, and Independent Writing. There is also Word Study Support for both areas.

Some things you'll see in a literacy classroom: children working independently, children working in small groups, children reading on their own or with partners, children listening as a class, small groups of children working with the teacher, children managing their own time and following their own work schedules, children listening to one another and offering advice with regards  to their writing or work, children working together to compose and write messages and stories as a class, a print rich classroom, a variety of texts, samples of children literature, and samples of children's work.
